This Week = Busy , Slow
I don’t have much to blog about at the moment. School has kept me busy and yesterday I was going to review an old SF flick, but it turned out that mounting my speakers on the walls was a much longer project than I anticipated. It took about 8 hours as I ran into one problem or another, but now that I’ve done it, I could probably accomplish the same thing in a mere three hours.
To talk once more about District 9, we watched it at the Petersen/Schwarzmann weekly movie night, if you are a fan of watching good movies on a weekly basis and are on Facebook you can check out the group. Mr. J liked the movie I’m pretty sure, which I was afraid he would not. Though that night I heard D9 was very ‘video game-esque’ for the first time, after a few minutes of contemplation I realized it could be considered so. I think my favorite comment came from Eva (her real name escapes me) and how much she enjoyed Sharlto Copley in his very dramatic and intense role. Of course the guys who hadn’t seen it made the appropriate exclamations during the awesome action sequences, but I felt bad for Ris because I am positive I heard some very real mouth throw-up noises coming from her.
In addition to going back and watching some old sci-fi movies I have also begun reading class
ic novels in the genre as well. It is slow going, especially since I have been on The Time Machine for almost a week an only 50 pages into it. I really can’t wait to post about it because it is phenomenal! I was also pointed to what appears to be a VERY good book, by a now mentioned thrice individual, the book is entitled Eifelheim, written by Michael Flynn. In the months to come I will get around to reading and reviewing that work as well. Especially since I haven’t read any recent SF for a number of years and Jordan has a wonderful way of conveying to me his excitement in such a way that I can’t help but catch it.
Look forward to a Book of Eli review around 2 AM Saturday morning. If I had the time I’d watch it first thing Friday but alas, I have a life, too bad I know. Hopefully I can get a movie watched tonight before friends come over, but that all depends on wife, child and the planets aligning. Keep coming back and reading, it may be slow for a bit, but I plan to keep posting on a more-than weekly basis.
