So this year I got to go to Sundance for the first time ever.  The person in which I lost my SFF virginity with was Luke, not new to him though.  What a time!  We started out by seeing A Prophet, which is a great, very great, french prison drama.  You wouldn’t think you come out of that feeling good, but you do.  If you ever get the chance, see it.

We saw the Shorts Program III and a Documentary Showcase.  Both had very interesting pieces, though the short directed by James Franco that featured a murdering necrophiliac left me feeling dirty.  There was one really good one called My Invisible Friend by Pablo Larcuen, I could see it being made into a feature film, much like how Napolean Dynamite happened.  Patrol was enjoyable too, John Patton Ford did that one.  I actual was able to e-mail him and will soon be in possession of a copy on DVD.

As far as the documentaries go, they were all pretty good.  Quadrangle was done by the daughter of a pair of pseudo-swingers and documented their experience.  Born Sweet opened my eyes to the arsenic problem in Cambodia.  Notes on the Other, a bit strange but overall very interesting.  Bus showed us another side of the Israel/Palestine issue.  Wagah showed a celebration around the Pakistani/Indian border.  Then I was introduced to Drunk History, YouTube it!  Freaking hilarious.

Attempting to go see a decent slasher movie, The Violent Kind ended up being a really poor film.  We ended up walking out with probably a good 45 minutes left in the movie.  Last we saw Splice, and you can always go back and read my review of that from a few days ago.

All in all, it was a fun time and I can’t wait till next year.  We had some fun times and there will be some videos posted at some point, probably on Facebook, though I’ll see about getting some up here.
