A Few Cool Things

I haven’t blogged in a while, over two months, and that’s pretty sad. Maybe I can start posting more, rather than wasting my time sharing links on Facebook. Cause here I get to talk a little bit more, despite the lack of comment love. So, why don’t we talk about a few things that are amazing!

Motorola+Google? Why it’s a great move…

A number of years ago, Apple announced a new way to communicate while on the go. We all know this as the iPhone. Since then, it has undergone several upgrades via hardware and OS. With each iteration it’s gotten better. Other manufacturers have tried matching the pure simplicity, beauty and power of the iPhone. Mostly, this turns into a patent war. Yet what Google did with the release of Android, was to provide an alternative end user experience, and rely on those already with smartphone building experience to meet them in the middle. This has led to some very great phones (Nexus S, G2, Evo, etc) and some colossal failures. Now though, with Google acquiring Motorola, the Android game is going to change.

Concerning the JWST, NASA and the Future of Science

Yesterday I learned that the US House of Representatives would be voting on another budget cut for NASA. The project most affected would be the James Webb Space Telescope. Feel free to peruse the NASA website about it, or read a decent article here. This caused me great concern, because this telescope will provide discoveries that will make the Hubble Telescope green with envy. As well as re-revolutionize what we know about the universe we inhabit. So I decided to write to Jason Chaffetz, my representative.

Einstein is still right

Apparently, there’s no proving that guy wrong.  Even when he wanted himself to be wrong, he wasn’t.  Today, NASA and some guys at Stanford and Washington University, announced the results from the Gravity Probe-B.  What is Gravity Probe-B?  It’s easily the most precise and perfect piece of machinery to ever be built by human beings. [...]

SpaceX: CEO Elon Musk on growth, pricing, profitability and China

It seems there’s just so much to say concerning SpaceX.  Especially after the CEO and CTO, Elon Musk, addresses some big concerns and even takes on China.  In an update formed as a sort of statement from himself on May 4th, Musk sets the record straight.  Mentioning the criticism SpaceX received when initially formed and [...]

Cellphones and Cancer: Public Ignorance and Apathy

It appears there’s still a large debate concerning whether or not cell phones cause cancer.  This is probably the most ridiculous argument ever.  For one, because those who purport that it does, site studies that are unverifiable in nature or otherwise unreliable.  The topic at hand is now two fold; how might a cellphone cause [...]

Let the Space Revolution Begin

It used to be that I mourned the day the Space Shuttle would be retired, but not today.  Today, Space Explorations Technologies (SpaceX), revealed to the public details on its next generation rocket.  Dubbed the Falcon Heavy, it lives up to its name.  A rocket like this hasn’t existed since the Apollo program, and actually [...]

A few things you may have missed…

Here is your Official MySciFi Summer Recap: Movies: Inception:  I call it high cinema, a movie tied for the title of best movie of the year.  It was made flawlessly, acted wonderfully, scripted brilliantly and pretty much just blew everyones pants off.  Not much else can be said for Christopher Nolans (arguably) best piece of [...]
